Rice is a myth

Rice is a myth and does nothing for electronics but make a mess, and delay proper treatment.
Your goal is to displace the water–NOT LET IT DRY on the board and deposit solutes. For a lasting water damage repair, you have to open the device and clean the corrosion that is instantly on the board when electricity meets water.
The biggest problem with rice, is that we “think” we are actually doing something by putting a wet phone in rice, so then we let ourselves try to power it on and charge our never-cleaned phones—this is the number one way to turn a repairable phone into an unrepairable phone.

I have yet to meet a wet phone that didn’t come right back if I get it on the same day it saw water and no attempt was made to power it on.
